Eleven years back, few likeminded young people with some experience in the development sector started an organization called women organization for Rural Development “WORD”. This initiative was powered with lots of hopes and promises. The small team of three members was keen to start their own struggle along with the struggle for people’s development of a remote pocket like Khojuria village in Akul GP of Telkoi Block, Keonjhar district, Orissa.
‘WORD’ began its development journey from – 1992 and during past decade it has grown in size and stature. The programme horizon has expanded much wider. New areas in terms of geographical concentration have been added. Over the years ‘WORD’ has become one of most commonly used word in the thinking and discussion agenda of people in general of Telkoi Area and particularly of the Government Departments operating in the area.
It’s working for the all round development of women, children, distressed people and vulnerable communities of their operational area. People are involved in different governmental and non- governmental scheme, provision and privileges with the hand holding support of WORD. Awareness and consciousness create through the WORD in the underdeveloped area.
